Summer 2012 is finally here. The sun made a welcome appearance at Clerkenwell Design Week, a London festival celebrating the latest in design innovation.
Gemma and I decided to explore our stylish new neighborhood (We’re working from start-up community Club Workspace) while tweeting, instagramming and making new friends.
First stop was open house at design consultancy IDEO, where we met with friend business designer Amie Bonsall and startup developer Kia Davis and discussed the usual….drag parties, ballet classes, and business.
Next we crashed the Haworth party - featuring student work from the Royal College of Art - and enjoyed the Central School of Speech and Drama’s theatre design exhibition “Living Stages”.
We took full advantage of the diorama workshop to create the ideal workspace - a great idea which truly engaged attendees.
Clerkenwell Design Week runs from 22 May to 24 May 2012. Check #cdw2012 on Twitter/Instagram for live updates.

This Lurpak ad by Wieden + Kennedy makes me smile.
It’s not often that I love an ad campaign but this visual is completely on the pulse, effectively combining awesome food photography, a sweet and simple statement “Be wonderful and wise” and an alluring, textured food rainbow. It draws you in.
Well done to all the creatives involved especially Dan Tobin-Smith, who did the rainbow photography and Nicola Yeomanm, who did the rainbow design and build.
Check out Wieden + Kennedy’s blog for this great writeup discussing the campaign.

Vivienne Westwood’s blog is pretty wonderful:
“This cover for Tatler was blownup on billboards during English fashion week, even I had to look twice to believe it was me. One week later Tatler’s editor Emma Soames got the sack – I’ve never asked Emma if there was any connection.”
